If I am forced to cancel your appointment due to a failure to follow pre-appointment instructions, presenting with a condition contraindicated for the intended procedure your appointment will be cancelled and you will forfeit your deposit.

Pre-Care Instructions (For All Procedures)

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and pain relievers the night before and on the day of the procedure: These substances thin your blood, which will increase skin sensitivity and make you more prone to bleeding or bruising during the procedure, this will affect the final results.

Avoid high UV exposure on the face for at least two weeks before the procedure: Sunburnt or recently sun-exposed skin is more sensitive and prone to irritation, I cannot work on sunburnt skin.

Discontinue the use of skincare containing strong exfoliants such as retinol, AHAs, or BHAs at least 4 weeks before the procedure: These ingredients increase skin sensitivity which leads to complications during the procedure.

Avoid injectables, chemical peels, laser treatments, or similar treatments for at least 4 weeks before your procedure: These treatments alter your skin’s texture and sensitivity, which interfere with pigment implantation.

Eat something before your appointment: Having stable blood sugar levels helps maintain your comfort and well-being during the procedure, reducing the likelihood of lightheadedness or discomfort.

Avoid exercising on the day of your appointment: Physical activity increases blood circulation, which will heighten skin sensitivity and make you more prone to bleeding or bruising during the procedure, impacting the results.

Note that blood donations are not accepted for 4 months after permanent makeup procedures: The National Blood Service requires a waiting period after such procedures to ensure safety in blood donations.

You may be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle: Hormonal changes can make your skin more sensitive, which may increase discomfort during the procedure.

Brow Pre-Care Instructions

Eyebrow tinting, waxing, threading, IPL, laser hair removal, or electrolysis should be done no less than 1 week before your procedure: This ensures that your skin is not irritated or sensitive, which will interfere with the procedure and healing process.

Discontinue the use of eyebrow growth serums at least 4 weeks before your procedure: Growth serums alter the skin’s reaction to pigments, leading to poor pigment retention and unsatisfactory results.

Use a gentle exfoliant and moisturiser on your brows daily for 1 week before the procedure: This helps create a smooth, well-prepared skin surface that will take pigment more effectively, resulting in better overall outcomes.

Eyeliner Pre-Care Instructions

Eyelash tinting or perming should be done no less than 1 week before your procedure: This allows any residual irritation to subside, ensuring your eyes are in the best possible condition for the procedure.

Stop using eyelash growth serums at least 4 weeks before your procedure: Similar to brow growth serums, these affect pigment retention, leading to uneven or insufficient results.

Remove lash extensions before the procedure and do not reapply them for 2 weeks post-procedure: Lash extensions interfere with the application process and also affect healing.

Ensure there are no styes or eye infections present: Performing the procedure on infected eyes can lead to complications and worsen the infection.

Remove contact lenses before the procedure and avoid wearing them for 24 hours after: This helps prevent irritation and allows the eyes to heal without the added discomfort of contact lenses. Bring glasses if needed.

Do not wear any eye makeup on the day of the procedure: This ensures a clean surface for the procedure and reduces the risk of infection.

Lips Pre-Care Instructions

If you have ever had a cold sore, you must start taking anti-herpes medication (e.g, Aciclovir) 1 week before and continue 1 week after the procedure: This will prevent a cold sore outbreak triggered by the micropigmentation process, as the procedure can activate the dormant virus in your system. You can order this online from Dr Fox.

IPL or laser hair removal around the mouth should be done no less than 2 weeks before your procedure: This allows time for any potential irritation or sensitivity to subside, ensuring the skin is in optimal condition for the procedure.

Lightly exfoliate your lips 1 week before the procedure and keep them moisturised: Exfoliation removes dry, dead skin, creating a smooth surface for better pigment retention and overall results. Arriving with well-moisturised lips also helps ensure the procedure goes smoothly. Please do not turn up to the appointment with chapped lips.

Bring your favourite everyday lip colour to the appointment: This helps guide the practitioner in matching or complementing your preferred lip shade, ensuring you are satisfied with the final result.
