Aftercare Instructions (For All Procedures)

Redness or swelling is normal and will subside within 1-4 days; bruising may also occur if you are particularly senstive: These are typical reactions as your skin heals from the procedure. Allowing this process naturally helps ensure proper healing and better results.

Avoid touching, rubbing, picking, or scratching the treated area: Doing so can cause scarring, loss of colour, or infection. Let the scabs fall off naturally over 7-10 days to preserve the pigment and ensure smooth healing.

Do not apply makeup to the treated area for the first 10 days: Makeup can introduce bacteria and irritate the healing skin, increasing the risk of infection and affecting the final results.

Avoid direct sun exposure and sunbeds for 2 weeks after the procedure: Sunlight and UV rays can cause the pigment to fade and increase the risk of hyperpigmentation, so it’s important to protect the treated area.

Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week: Sweat can irritate the healing skin and introduce bacteria, leading to potential complications and delaying the healing process.

Avoid face-down swimming, hot tubs, and saunas for the first 10 days: Immersing the treated area in water or exposing it to steam and heat can disrupt the healing process and lead to poor pigment retention.

Only apply the aftercare treatment provided for 1 week: Using other products can introduce irritants or ingredients that might interfere with healing, so it’s best to stick to the recommended ointment.

Stay away from products containing retinoids, glycolic acids, or other strong exfoliants on the area: These products will cause pigment fading and disrupt the healing process.

Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep: This minimises the risk of introducing bacteria to the healing area, reducing the chances of infection.

Avoid sleeping on your face for the first week: This prevents pressure on the treated area, which can disturb the healing process and affect the final results.

Brow Aftercare

Day of treatment: Avoid getting the area wet; blot with a clean tissue every few hours: This helps remove lymph and bacteria, reducing the risk of infection while allowing the area to heal.

Days 1-7: Clean the area morning and night with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser: This maintains hygiene without irritating the sensitive skin. Gently patting dry and applying a thin layer of ointment will support the healing process without suffocating the skin.

No tinting, threading, waxing, or electrolysis on or around the treated area for 4 weeks: These treatments can irritate the healing skin, leading to complications or uneven pigment retention.

No facials, injectables, chemical peels, or similar treatments for 4 weeks: These procedures can interfere with the healing process and affect the pigment’s longevity and appearance.

Eyeliner Aftercare

Day of treatment: Avoid getting the area wet; blot with a clean tissue every few hours: This helps to keep the area clean and reduces the risk of infection while promoting proper healing.

Days 1-7: Clean the area morning and night with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser: This routine keeps the area clean without disrupting the pigment, and applying a thin layer of ointment helps protect the healing skin.

Use disposable cold packs to reduce swelling: Cold packs can help minimise swelling and discomfort, aiding the healing process.

Do not dye, perm, or use an eyelash curler for 2 weeks: These treatments can irritate the delicate area around your eyes and interfere with healing.

Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from wind and pollution: Sunglasses help shield the sensitive area from environmental factors that could cause irritation or infection.

Discontinue eyelash growth serums: These products can cause pigment migration, leading to uneven or unsatisfactory results.

If eyes become infected, contact your GP for prescription eye drops: Prompt treatment of any infection is crucial to prevent complications and ensure proper healing.

Lips Aftercare

Day of treatment: Blot the area with a clean tissue every 30 minutes for the first 4 hours: This helps remove lymph and keeps the area clean, reducing the risk of infection and promoting healing.

Days 1-7: Apply ointment on lips several times a day to keep them moist: Keeping your lips moisturised prevents cracking and ensures better pigment retention, aiding the healing process.

Avoid hot drinks for the first 24 hours and use a straw if possible: This minimises the risk of irritating the treated area, helping the lips heal smoothly.

Avoid salty and spicy foods for the first few days: These foods can cause irritation and discomfort to the healing lips, potentially affecting the outcome of the procedure.

No kissing, rubbing, or friction on the treatment area for the first few days: Avoiding contact protects the area from irritation, preventing pigment loss or infection.

No facials, injectables, laser hair removal, chemical peels, or similar treatments for 4 weeks: These treatments can interfere with the healing process and compromise the final results.

Healing Process

Please remember that PMU is a process and the following feelings/experiences during your healing journey are completely normal:

Day 1: 🥺 “Oh dear this looks intense.”

Day 2-3: 🤨 “NOW IT’S DARKER!”

Day 4-5: 😣 “Hmm this is feeling very dry and itchy.”

Day 5-10: 😦 “Gah, it’s so patchy!”

Day 10-21: 🧐 “Erm where did the colour go?”

Day 21-28: 😊 “Much better, can’t wait for my retouch!"

(First timers) 6-8 weeks: 🪄 RE-TOUCH (treatment to perfect your results).

🥺🤨😣😦🧐😊 Repeat the healing process as per days 1-28.

Final results: 🥰 “HOW DID I LIVE WITHOUT THIS ON MY FACE?!”

6-8 Week Re-touch

Each PMU procedure is a gradual process that involves multiple pigment applications to achieve the full desired look, so patience is key. This is perfectly normal and is influenced by factors like your body chemistry, lifestyle, and how well you follow aftercare instructions. Even if the pigment appears to have held up well after your first session, it's important to schedule your first retouch to help maintain and extend the results.

What does the retouch involve? During the retouch, I may need to fill in any areas where the pigment didn’t fully retain or touch up other spots that changed during the healing process. We can also reassess and refine the shape and color to ensure you’re happy with the final outcome. Often, small adjustments are needed to achieve the best results. I offer a complimentary retouch for new treatments, which must be done within 8 weeks of your initial appointment. Any retouches after this period will be considered a top-up and will incur a charge.
