Everyone has a different level of sensitivity, some people find the procedure to be relatively painless while others may find it more uncomfortable. A topical anaesthetic is applied before and a secondary anasthetic is used during the procedure to alleviate any sensation or discomfort.
-
This fading process is heavily influenced by your lifestyle, age group, skin type, medications, environmental factors such as sun/UV, strong facial treatments (containing retinol and AHA Acids) along with how well you follow the aftercare. This will vary from each individual dependent on these factors. Generally your lip tattoo will need a top up around 9-18 months to keep it fresh.
-
The procedure takes roughly about two hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Please allow a solid 3 hour window for your treatment.
-
Before your treatment, we will undertake a consultation to discuss the procedure, your medical history, expectations, colours and designs. A template is drawn in makeup for review and once you are happy a topical anasthetic is applied for 25 minutes. After this, the chosen pigment shade is infused using a tiny needle into the dermal layer of skin. Shortly after that, a secondary anaesthetic is administered to ensure comfort throughout the entire procedure. Immediately after the treatment, the colour will be more intense and sharp. This will subside during the weeks healing. Lip tattoo is a two-step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a touch up between 6-8 weeks after. During healing, it’s normal to experience some pigment loss, this is why we have the touch up in place.
-
Primarily the lips will look as if lipstick/gloss has been applied - dependent which colour was chosen will determine the darkness/brightness. Slight swelling of the lips may appear as the skin has been abraded but this will all settle over the next few days. Full aftercare will be provided on completion of the treatment and verbally explained.

Dermal filler and lip tattooing compliment each other very well, however you must allow 4 weeks in between having lip filler and your lip tattoo to allow for healing time.
